I found this interesting video for Salman Khan on a presentation in June 26, 2014 at NASA Ames Research Center Director's Colloquium, Moffett Field, California. This presentation is really an eye opener for those who are in the education industry, and I say "industry" because it is more than just teaching a lesson or learning a skill. Salman Khan presents to us what he believes about education in this video of which you can watch it directly here or just copy the link and past in in your browser. "Knowledge is Power" is a phrase that first used by Francis Bacon back in 1597 (1). It is today more than ever this phrase finds itself into every field and every aspect of people's lives. Knowledge is what you know and when you know it and why you know it, and what differentiate you from others who lack this knowledge and put you ahead of them.

Another thing to consider that with PowerPoint we are not left behind with the latest technologies and updates. Here it comes Office Mix to add very powerful tools to its original PowerPoint. See the links below to learn more,
https://mix.office.com/Gallery https://mix.office.com/en-us/education Everyone now is attacking PowerPoint as they were to do any presentation without it few years ago, and now they are dumping it for new animated tools. PowerPoint still has its powers when it is utilized properly, not only throwing bullets and images. The PowerPoint is a comprehensive tool that include statistical tools, links, videos, and many other features. I am not defending PowerPoint here but I believe the power is in the contents and the presenter, not some childish animated slides what makes presentations good.

One of the issues that I mentioned in my last reflection report was about the limitations that the organization (school or college) can put on the educators. For example, a teacher may find that videos and playing music can help students to learn, however, the school may not support the teacher with his approach due to some old fashioned school regulations or due to a strict management style. My question was "what should we do as teachers to overcome these obstacles and whether or not the outcome will be affected? I asked these questions to my classmates in the forum discussions and I am waiting for their responses. Please download the file below to read the whole reflective thinking report.
On August 8th, 2016, I have completed the Foundational Mentorship workshop (Certificate Attached) at Eagle Ridge Hospital. With this certificate/training I become entitled to take students at any stage of their nursing program and especially those who are doing their preceptorship hours at the end of their program. I will have the opportunity to share my knowledge and expertise with the students as well as supporting the students in their skills acquiring and to introduce them to the workplace policies and procedures. I hope I will have a student in the near future of which it will be an opportunity for both of us for mutual learning.
Today I received a letter from Athabasca University to inform me that I my excellent academic achievement in 2015/2016 (GPA 3.6) put my name on the University Honours List. Thank you Athabasca University. You can view the letter here.
As I am approaching the end of week 3, I have finished the assignment that was due this week: Reflective Thinking Report #2. In this report I wrote my reflection on the importance of saving precious class time to help students learn by applying the knowledge the obtained through critical thinking and application and analyzing. How can we save some of our class time? Bowen (2012) proposed the use of e-communication tools to assign pre-reading and some activities and assignment prior to attending the class. With this approach, students are able to prepare themselves for the coming class and they will be aware of the objectives of the class work. To read more about my reflection, please feel free to read the whole paper in the attached file.
The below video was recorded with permission from the music therapist at one of the lower mainland hospitals, I hope you like it. I recorded this video in an attempt to offer an easy guidance on how to prime the feeding tube and how to operate the pump. I posted the same on my channel on YouTube. Please feel free to view and I hope you'll like it. In my first journal reflection, I chose a statement from the textbook of this course (Teaching Naked) of which describes the relationship between teachers and students on Facebook. Bowen stated, “Facebook will take you into students’ bedrooms and beyond, and your presence may be a little creepy.” (p. 35). It was challenging to me when I read the aforementioned statement as it sounds scary and creepy, however, I knew that there are things to be done to make it doable without compromising anyone’s privacy.
However, do we really want to be with our students at all times the way the author has described it, I believe not, I don’t want to be a nightmare to my students. Yes, I want to communicate with them and also to give them the opportunity to communicate with their classmates and with myself as their teacher not as their friend (as long as this relationship is between a student and his or her teacher). This week I am starting my PID3240 - Media Enhanced Learning course' journal entries. I believe this course provides us with the learning tools we need to utilize media in our learning and teaching especially that our students are well attached to media and the digital world. I hope our learning is aligned with what our students want and expect.
