Whenever the learning styles topic is being addressed, I become confused as people tend to think that they have one learning style or maximum two, and they expect everyone else to be the same. It makes me confused because I believe that they are quad coin faces. Teaching cannot happen if learners did not learn, and so, when people say, oh, I am visual learner, really?!! ok, then you don't need to listen to instructions and you don't need to practice hands-on to ensure that learning has taken place, right? I doubt it. Visual, audio, tactile, and kinesthetic, are all important and hard to separate them and focus on one only.
Everyone has a preferred style of learning, but the learning then is limited if only one style is used. In other words, if I want to describe my learning style, I would say 30% visual, 20% auditory, 30% kinesthetic, and 20% tactile. This means that we need to incorporate the four styles in the teaching techniques to bring the maximum benefits of learning to the learners, and we need to forget the idea that a person has only one learning style.
